Unsourced leaks and the Season 4 and 5 roadmap lines are removed.

Railway to Golmud is the Battlefield 6 remake of Battlefield 4’s Golmud Railway. It came with Season 3 on 12 May 2026, set in Tajikistan, with seven Conquest sectors and a train that rides toward the enemy headquarters once your team captures it. At launch it was the largest Battlefield 6 map, and EA’s developer map guide of 28 April 2026 remains the main source for its design.

The seven Conquest sectors

Domination and Squad Deathmatch use only one or two of these areas, mainly the Village. In Breakthrough and Rush, the guide names the Construction Site and the Village as strong defensive points, and the action starts at the Warehouse and moves toward the Village.

Sector

What the developer guide says

Construction Site

Replaces the old school of Battlefield 4. It counters high-elevation enemies in the Village.

Village

Rebuilt with varied buildings. The scout helicopter spawns here, on a walled helipad.

Train

A destructible power station and a small forest give infantry cover between the train and the Warehouse.

Bridge Construction

Road pieces, dirt mounds and machinery add cover, and ramps give vehicles air time.

Warehouse

Two multi-storey warehouses linked by elevated walkways, with hangar doors and rooftop entrances.

Farm

A walled compound near the Pax Armata headquarters, with a two-storey farmhouse and a shack.

How the train works

After a team captures the train, it moves toward the enemy headquarters. Battlefield 4’s train went to the capturing team’s side. The new train is easier to recapture, has several cars with cover and parkour routes, and has an engine at each end. Level designer Luka Grepl-Malmgren said in the guide that playtesters ride the train much more than in the original. The guide suggests taking the nearby enemy sector, Bridge Construction or Farm, after you capture the train, for extra life bleed.

Developer tips for the map

The guide lists nine tips. Hold the Construction Site and the Village with the VIP Compound close by. Use close-quarters weapons, such as SMGs with the Engineer’s SMG proficiency, on the train cars. Fly jets through the valleys to escape ground defences. Use smoke and Support gadgets to cover flanks and captures. Assault squads should bring a Spawn Beacon. When Recon players hold high ground, the guide advises destroying the buildings they sit on.

The guide names no fixed sniper positions. It does say that the elevated positions in both headquarters were removed and about 100 metres in total was cut from the north and south edges, which takes the high perches out of the headquarters.

Changes since launch

Date

Change

Source

13 May 2026

Jet usage on Railway to Golmud in Breakthrough was disabled while the developers investigated a ticket count issue.

Battlefield Comms post on Steam

21 July 2026

Update 1.4.1.0 adjusted objects near objectives B, C and E to stop players getting stuck, and made the train capture point follow the train on the map.

EA, update 1.4.1.0

4 August 2026

Update 1.4.1.5 made pylons on the map visible at medium distances for pilots.

EA, update 1.4.1.5

The Steam copy of the jet notice shows no later developer reply on 26 October 2026, so the date jets returned to Breakthrough on this map is not confirmed here. Season 4 added Tsuru Reef, which EA’s map guide of 20 July 2026 calls the largest Battlefield 6 map.

Frequently asked questions

When did Railway to Golmud come out in Battlefield 6?

Railway to Golmud arrived with Season 3 on 12 May 2026, according to EA’s Battlefield channels. It is a remake of Battlefield 4’s Golmud Railway, moved from China to Tajikistan.

How does the train work on Railway to Golmud?

The captured train moves toward the enemy headquarters. The team that holds it gets a forward spawn, and the other team can recapture it more easily than in Battlefield 4. The guide suggests taking the nearby enemy sector for extra ticket bleed.

Are there sniper spots on Railway to Golmud?

EA’s developer guide names none. It states that the elevated positions in both headquarters were removed, and it advises destroying buildings to dislodge Recon players on high ground. The Construction Site is the answer the guide gives to high-elevation enemies in the Village.

Are jets disabled on Railway to Golmud in Breakthrough?

Developers disabled jets there on 13 May 2026 for a ticket count issue. The Steam copy of the notice shows no later reply, so the return date is not confirmed. Updates 1.4.1.0 and 1.4.1.5 do not mention jets on this map.

Sources

EA, Railway to Golmud developer map guide, 28 April 2026

Battlefield Comms, Jet usage on Railway to Golmud, Breakthrough, Steam discussions copy, 13 May 2026

EA, Battlefield 6 game update 1.4.1.0, 21 July 2026

EA, Battlefield 6 game update 1.4.1.5, 4 August 2026

EA, Tsuru Reef developer map guide, 20 July 2026

Prepared by the GamerMarkt editorial team, with some help from AI tools; some images may be AI-generated.

Battlefield 4’s iconic Golmud Railway returns in Battlefield 6 Season 3 as Railway to Golmud.
