On June 26, IGN published an eight-minute gameplay walkthrough led by lead level designer Jean Strachen, focused entirely on Havana. It is the most detailed look yet at how Ubisoft Singapore has rebuilt one of the original game’s densest open-world locations using the latest Anvil engine.

How Havana Has Been Rebuilt

Havana keeps the iconic layout of the 2013 original but every street and landmark has been reconstructed with significantly more detail and authenticity. The rebuilt Anvil engine introduces ray tracing, micropolygon rendering, and a dynamic weather system that puts Resynced on visual par with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. NPC density is noticeably higher, character behaviour is more varied, and there are no loading screens when entering the city. You can sail in, dock, and walk straight into Havana without a break.

Environmental storytelling is everywhere. NPCs perform localized activities and dynamic micro-events that add texture to each neighbourhood. Wildlife fills out the world with birds, livestock, and ambient animal movement. At nightfall, commercial activity fades as NPCs head home. Lanterns, window light, and brazeros transform the streets, and the cover of darkness creates new stealth opportunities.

What Changed in the Parkour System?

Parkour in Resynced is faster and more fluid than in the original. The walkthrough shows Edward transitioning seamlessly from street level to rooftops, guided by iconic white cloth and paint markers on buildings. Classic moves like corner swings and lifts return, but new additions push the system further: ziplines now connect high ground to low ground across long distances, landing recovery is quicker, and Edward can roll upon hitting the ground to maintain sprint speed.

Parkour doubles as a strategic escape tool, not just a navigation method. Transitions between rooftops, streets, and back up again flow without interruption, which makes evading enemies after a botched stealth approach much more viable than before.

How Does Stealth Work Now?

The single biggest quality-of-life improvement is that Edward can now crouch anywhere, at any time. In the 2013 original, crouching was limited to specific zones, which was a persistent frustration. That restriction is gone. Crouching modifies Edward’s visibility meter, making him harder to spot at medium to long range. At night, crouching makes him even less visible, and enemies take longer to detect him in the dark.

Social stealth returns in full. Edward can blend into nearby crowds to avoid detection, and the walkthrough demonstrates pickpocketing merchants mid-blend. Eagle Vision now includes the Observe feature first introduced in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, allowing players to tag enemies, find quest objectives, and identify targets from a cinematic close-up perspective.

Assassination Contracts and the Expanded Toolset

Pigeon coops scattered across Havana offer assassination contracts, each now accompanied by unique voice lines that distinguish it from the rest. Completing optional side objectives within each contract grants higher rewards.

The walkthrough showcases a wide range of tools available during these contracts:

Sleep Darts: Silently incapacitate enemies from long range, putting them temporarily to sleep.

Smoke Bombs: Break line of sight and stun NPCs caught inside, creating openings for attack or escape.

Rope Dart: Available earlier in the game than in the original. Pull enemies in close for a quick takedown or hang targets from rooftops for a cinematic kill.

Kick Attack: A powerful new special move that interrupts enemies and launches them backwards or off a roof.

Berserk Dart: Turns enemies against their own, thinning guard numbers before you engage directly.

Hireable groups of rowdy drunkards can also create distractions near restricted zones, drawing guards away and opening alternative routes to targets.

What Is Different About Combat?

Combat has been entirely reworked into a parry-driven, action-oriented system. The passive counter-attack loop of the original is gone. Enemies now adapt to predictable player patterns, making fights more demanding. A Perfect Parry can chain takedowns to up to four nearby enemies, depending on the sword Edward carries. Wall takedowns, ground takedowns, and the Hidden Blade takedown (triggered by breaking an enemy’s defence with multiple attacks) round out the system.

The Hidden Blade is no longer usable in open combat. It appears only in stealth and contextual kills, which sharpens the mechanical divide between fighting and assassinating. Combined with parries, dodges, smoke bombs, and the new kick, combat in Resynced feels more deliberate and varied than the original’s one-button flow.

Seamless Open-World Transitions

One of the technical highlights shown in the walkthrough is the complete absence of loading screens when moving between the sea and cities. Sailing into Havana’s port and walking directly into the streets creates a seamless open-world experience that the 2013 version could not achieve. Draw distance and texture resolution have been pushed well beyond what last-generation hardware allowed.

How Long Is the Remake?

The main story of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is estimated to take around 30 hours to complete, roughly six hours longer than the original campaign. A full completionist run is expected to take approximately 80 hours. Beyond that, free-roam exploration, parkour traversal, and open-world side activities could extend playtime well past 100 hours for thorough players.

New content includes three recruitable ship officers (Lucy Baldwin, “The Padre”, and Tobias “Deadman” Smith) with their own story questlines, new scenes featuring Edward’s wife Caroline, and 10 new sea shanties featuring French artist Woodkid. Ubisoft estimates roughly six hours of entirely new quest content has been added on top of the original campaign.

Editions, Pricing, and Pre-Order Bonuses

Three editions are available. The Standard Edition costs $59.99 / £50 and includes the base game. The Deluxe Edition at $69.99 is digital-only and adds the Master Assassin Character Pack and Master Assassin Naval Pack. The Collector’s Edition at $199.99 bundles everything from the Deluxe tier with a physical Edward figurine, a wearable metal brooch, an exclusive SteelBook, and a cloth map of the Caribbean.

Pre-ordering any edition unlocks Blackbeard’s Crimson Pack, which includes an exclusive costume, a matching pair of swords, and a set of pistols. The game is available on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Ubisoft Store. Ubisoft+ subscribers get day-one access.

Things Players Often Wonder About

Is Freedom Cry included?

No. The Freedom Cry expansion and the original game’s multiplayer mode have both been cut. Ubisoft chose to focus entirely on Edward Kenway’s main campaign and the new content built around it.

Does it run at 60 FPS on console?

Yes. Ubisoft has confirmed 60 FPS performance mode options on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Is it an RPG like Valhalla or Odyssey?

No. Ubisoft has been explicit that Resynced is an action-adventure game, not an action RPG. There are no loot tiers, no levelling systems, and no gear-score mechanics. Combat and stealth have been modernised, but the structure stays classic.

What are the PC system requirements?

Minimum specs for 1080p at 30 FPS target a GTX 1660 and an Intel i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600. The recommended tier for 1080p at 60 FPS calls for an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT. For 4K at 60 FPS on Ultra with extended ray tracing, you will need an RTX 4090 or RX 7900 XTX. All configurations require 16 GB RAM (dual-channel), 65 GB SSD storage, and Windows 11.

Can it be played offline?

Yes. Ubisoft has confirmed a one-time online connection is required for installation, but the entire game can be played offline after that.

The 8-minute IGN First gameplay walkthrough of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced showcases a rebuilt Havana with overhauled parkour, stealth, combat, and seamless open-world transitions.

[285

post-6629","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-gaming-news
["GET
